Privacy & Confidentiality

How Haven protects your information, what this website does and does not collect, and the specific, limited situations in which the law requires disclosure.

Last updated August 24, 2026

At Haven Psychology Group, we understand that confidentiality is a cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship. We are committed to providing you with a safe and secure environment—whether in-person at our Wesley Chapel, Florida office or during virtual therapy sessions—where you can feel comfortable discussing your concerns.

Our Commitment to Confidentiality

Under normal circumstances, no one outside Haven Psychology Group will have access to any information about your participation in therapy without your expressed written consent. This includes even the fact that you are receiving services from us.

We follow the professional, legal, and ethical guidelines established by the American Psychological Association (APA) and the laws of the state of Florida. Additionally, we are required to maintain confidential records of all therapy sessions. These records are kept secure and are not shared with any other individuals, organizations, or entities without your authorization.

Limits to Confidentiality

While confidentiality is a priority, there are specific situations where we may be required to disclose information without your consent. These include:

  1. Serious Threats to Safety: If we believe there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, we are legally and ethically obligated to take steps to ensure safety, which may include notifying authorities or emergency contacts.
  2. Suspected Abuse or Neglect: Florida law requires mental health professionals to report suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult to the appropriate authorities.
  3. Legal Requirements: If we receive a valid court order or subpoena, we may be required to provide information as part of a legal process.

Your therapist will review these exceptions with you during your first session to ensure that you fully understand how your privacy is protected and the rare situations in which it may be breached.

Privacy During Virtual Sessions

For clients engaging in virtual therapy, we use secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms to protect your privacy. We recommend that you also take steps to ensure your privacy during virtual sessions, such as choosing a private, quiet location and using a secure internet connection.

Protecting Your Information

We are committed to safeguarding your personal information. Whether through our website, in-session communication, or record-keeping, we adhere to strict privacy and security protocols to comply with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations.

If you have any questions about our privacy or confidentiality policies, please don’t hesitate to ask your therapist or contact us directly at admin@haven-psychology.com.

About This Website

Everything above describes the care relationship. This section describes the website itself: what it collects, what it deliberately does not, and which outside companies are involved when you visit.

What this website does not collect

There are no intake forms, symptom questionnaires or insurance forms on this website. The Schedule, Client Portal and Send a Secure Message buttons all open SimplePractice, the secure portal Haven uses to keep its practice records. Anything you enter there becomes part of your record with the practice and is protected by the confidentiality policy above, not by this section.

The only thing the website itself asks you for is an email address, and only if you choose to subscribe to The Haven Journal.

Analytics

Haven counts page views using Plausible Analytics. Plausible sets no cookies, builds no advertising profile, and does not follow you from one website to another. It records which page was opened, the site you arrived from, and your approximate country and device type. Your IP address is used only for a moment to work that out and is not stored.

Page addresses are counted, and some of those addresses name a service or a condition. What is never recorded is anything you choose or type. Answers you give the therapist matcher, insurance options you look at, search terms you enter and the contents of any field are never sent to analytics, and nothing links a series of page views back to you as a person.

Two buttons are counted as well as pages: the one that requests a consultation, and the one that dials the practice. What is recorded is that a button of that kind was pressed — not which clinician, not which service, not what you were reading. This is how Haven tells whether its advertising reaches people who actually want an appointment.

Advertising

Haven advertises on Google. If you arrived here by clicking one of those ads, Google already knows you clicked it; that happens on Google’s side, before this website is involved at all.

What does not happen is the reverse. No advertising tag runs on this site. Nothing is reported back to Google, or to any other advertising network, about what you did once you arrived — not whether you asked for a consultation, not which pages you read, not how long you stayed. Google offers a tag that would measure exactly that, and Haven has declined it: telling an advertising company that a particular person went on to seek mental health care is not a trade this practice is willing to make for better advertising reports.

Outside services that load when you open a page

A few parts of the site are provided by other companies. When your browser loads them, it tells them your IP address and basic device information — the same as opening any website:

  • Plausible Analytics, for the page counting described above.
  • SimplePractice, whose code sits behind the scheduling and portal buttons on the pages that offer them.

None of these are advertising services, and none of them receive anything about you beyond what your browser sends automatically.

Outside services that run only if you choose them

  • MailerLite delivers The Haven Journal. If you subscribe, MailerLite receives your email address and nothing else — no name, no reason for subscribing, nothing about therapy. Subscribing takes effect only after you confirm a link sent to that address, and every issue carries an unsubscribe link. The Journal list and Haven’s client records sit in separate systems and nothing passes between them, so subscribing with the same address you use for the client portal does not join the two, and it tells Haven nothing about you.
  • SimplePractice receives what you enter when you open the scheduler, the client portal, or a secure message.

Cookies

This website sets no advertising cookies and no analytics cookies. It saves one small item in your own browser to remember whether you have already seen or dismissed the Journal subscription notice, so that it does not reappear on every visit. That item stays on your device and is never sent to Haven or to anyone else.

Links to other websites

Links to Google Maps, Facebook and Instagram open sites Haven does not operate. Nothing is shared with them unless you follow the link, and their own policies apply once you do.

Hosting

The website is hosted by Render, which keeps standard server logs for security and reliability.

Your choices

Browser privacy settings and content blockers will stop the analytics and the outside services above, and the site works normally without them. You can unsubscribe from the Journal at any time using the link in any issue.

To ask what information the website holds about you, or to have it corrected or removed, email admin@haven-psychology.com. Requests about a clinical record are handled under Access to Records & Client Information instead.
