Is this the right evaluation?
Who a diagnostic clarification evaluation can help
You may be noticing:
- Several diagnoses over the years from different clinicians
- Conflicting opinions, or a diagnosis that never quite fit
- Therapy that has helped but left questions unanswered
- A treating clinician who wants a clearer picture, with your permission
If this sounds familiar, start with a conversation.

Our approach
Why a careful evaluation, not a checklist
A checklist struggles when attention, mood, anxiety, trauma and personality overlap.
What the evaluation looks at
- Which diagnoses the findings support, and which they don’t
- Whether several things are true at once, and how they interact
- Emotional and personality functioning, where relevant
- What it all means for treatment

What you receive
Results you can act on.
What you’ll leave with
- A written report setting out what the findings support, and why
- A clear account where a diagnosis is not established
- Recommendations you, a therapist or a prescriber can act on
- A feedback session to talk it through
An evaluation is not urgent care. If you are in immediate danger, call 911; for urgent support at any hour, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Our crisis resources page lists more options.

Common questions
Before you call.
Often, yes. This is careful differential work, not an attempt to prove or disprove a particular label. The questions often involve genuine overlap between ADHD, anxiety and depressive disorders, trauma, bipolar-spectrum conditions and personality features: distinctions that are legitimately difficult and that change what will be most helpful. The report sets out what the findings support and why, and says plainly when a question cannot be settled.
No, and it should not. Sometimes the findings support a diagnosis clearly. Sometimes they rule one out, which is often just as useful. Sometimes the most accurate answer describes a pattern (a cognitive profile, a set of executive-functioning difficulties, an emotional factor) that does not amount to a diagnostic label but does explain what has been happening and points to what would help.
Raise it in the consultation. Autism-related symptom screening may sometimes be appropriate within a broader evaluation, but screening is not a diagnostic evaluation: it cannot establish or rule out autism, and it does not replace a comprehensive autism evaluation by an appropriately qualified provider. If autism is a serious possibility, we will say so and help you think through whether a specialized autism evaluation should come first, or alongside an evaluation here for other questions such as attention or learning.
Start with a conversation.
Tell us what you are hoping to understand. A free 15-minute consultation is often enough to work out whether this evaluation is the right next step, or to point you toward something that fits better.
