Dr. Bethany Harris

Younger adolescents through adults · Wesley Chapel & telehealth in participating PSYPACT jurisdictions · English

Dr. Bethany Harris founded Haven Psychology Group and leads its comprehensive DBT program. She sees younger adolescents through adults, in person in Wesley Chapel and by telehealth. Her work centers on what many practices decline to take on: intense emotions that are hard to regulate, self-harm urges, suicidal thoughts, borderline personality features, and the repeated crises that come with them.

How she works

Her primary approach is Dialectical Behavior Therapy, offered comprehensively at Haven: weekly individual sessions, a skills group, phone coaching between sessions, and a consultation team behind the work — the full model as it was researched, rather than skills borrowed into ordinary weekly therapy.

You may already know what you should be doing and still find yourself overwhelmed once emotions get intense. The work begins there: naming the patterns that keep you stuck, then building skills you can reach for in the moment. Acceptance and change are held together rather than traded against each other. She also draws on cognitive behavioral therapy and compassion-focused work.

Her style is warm, direct, and nonjudgmental. Christian counseling and faith integration are available on request; clients of every faith background, and clients of none, are equally welcome.

Who she works best with

  • Adolescents and adults whose emotions escalate faster than their coping skills can keep up with
  • People living with self-harm urges or suicidal thoughts who want structured treatment, not only crisis management
  • People with borderline personality features, chronic impulsivity, or repeated crises
  • Anyone whose previous therapy helped but did not create enough lasting change
  • People who would rather have skills and structure than open-ended talk therapy

A few fit notes

Dr. Harris works both in person in Wesley Chapel and by telehealth.

Because she also coordinates intake for the practice, a consultation with her may end with a recommendation for a different Haven clinician. That is the point of it rather than a detour — the aim is the right match, not the nearest opening.

Background and training

Dr. Harris earned her master’s and doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Texas A&M University, completing her PhD in 2022, after a bachelor’s in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience from Harding University. She has provided therapy since 2018, first during her doctoral training and as a licensed psychologist since 2023. Her experience spans community mental health, forensic, and private practice settings, in both therapy and psychological assessment.
