Dr. Gabriela Figueras
Ages 12 and up · Telehealth in Florida · English
Dr. Gabriela Figueras holds a doctoral degree in clinical psychology and is completing supervised postdoctoral hours toward independent licensure (Florida postdoctoral residency). Clinical work is supervised by Dr. Bethany Harris, who reviews cases regularly—so care is delivered by a doctoral-level clinician with an experienced psychologist involved throughout.
Fee: Reduced postdoctoral rates — $100 for a 45-minute session, $125 for a comprehensive DBT session or a 60-minute session, and $175 for the intake. The full schedule with service codes is on the fees page.
Dr. Gabriela Figueras works within Haven’s comprehensive DBT program and sees the widest age range on the team — from age twelve through older adulthood — by telehealth across Florida. Because she is completing her postdoctoral residency, her sessions are offered at reduced rates.
How she works
Her primary framework is comprehensive DBT: structured, skills-focused individual sessions, a skills group, phone coaching between sessions, and a consultation team reviewing the work. Alongside it she draws on cognitive behavioral therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, and supportive therapy, choosing among them according to what a person needs.
She works with families as well as individuals, and offers parent coaching and parent management training — the practical side of helping a parent respond differently to a child who is struggling, rather than therapy for the child alone.
Her clinical training includes substantial work with veterans and first responders.
Who she works best with
- Adolescents and adults whose emotions or impulses outrun their coping skills, including people with borderline personality features
- People with generalized anxiety, social anxiety, or panic attacks
- People carrying trauma or PTSD, including veterans and first responders
- Parents who want coaching on responding differently to a child who is struggling
- People managing substance use concerns, burnout, or persistent sleep difficulties
A few fit notes
Dr. Figueras sees clients aged 12 and up, by telehealth across Florida. She does not treat OCD or eating disorders — for OCD, including perinatal and postpartum OCD, Dr. Elena Bicherova is the clinician to ask about.
If you are not sure whether she is the right fit, that is what the free 15-minute consultation is for. It can help sort out whether Dr. Figueras, another Haven clinician, or a resource outside the practice would serve you best.
Background and training
Dr. Figueras earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. Her training spans anxiety and mood concerns, trauma, personality features, substance use, and sleep difficulties, with substantial work alongside veterans and first responders.
